The wind whipped around Ben as he stood on the cliff overlooking the ocean. He’d brought Emily here, to the spot where they used to spend their summer days, building sandcastles and dreaming. She looked at him with an empty gaze. "I'm sorry, I don't recall this."

His lips pressed into a thin line. He had to make her remember. He pointed toward the horizon. "We used to watch the sunset here, every single night. We promised each other we'd always be friends."

He took a step towards the edge of the cliff. He didn't blink. "You told me you'd be here forever." He waited, challenging her to contradict him. She remained unmoved. He wouldn't leave until she did.
