The silence in the room was almost as heavy as the box she was rummaging through. Eleanor's grandmother had always been a quiet woman, a seamstress who lived a simple life. The photo she held, however, contradicted everything she thought she knew. Her grandmother, in a daring red dress, holding hands with a man who was not her grandfather.

Eleanor's fingers trembled as she held the photo. The man was laughing, his eyes full of affection. She felt a familiar knot forming in her stomach. That wasn't her grandmother. This was just some other woman. She would just file it away and forget. She refused to acknowledge this as true.
