She clenched her jaw so tight it ached. Sarah’s name was on the whiteboard, above her own. The head of marketing. It should have been hers. The meeting droned on, a chorus of praise for Sarah’s “vision.” She folded her arms, the fabric of her blazer bunching uncomfortably.

"And how about some input from others?" Mr. Henderson asked, finally. The other colleagues looked her way. She met their gazes with a flat, unwavering stare.

"Well?" Mr. Henderson prompted. She took a deep breath, the air filling her lungs but not calming her. "I have no feedback," she said, her voice clipped. She stood and walked out, leaving the meeting room.
