A bead of sweat trickled down David's temple as Sarah kept up the interrogation. He fiddled with the stapler, clicking it open and closed.

“You’re telling me,” Sarah said, her voice laced with disbelief, “that you *don’t* remember the color war? The blue team versus the green?”

He shifted in his chair. The fluorescent lights overhead seemed to hum with an oppressive energy. "I was on many teams in my youth."

"But the *songs*? You can’t tell me you forgot the songs?" She grinned, clearly expecting a specific response.

He reached for a paperclip and began to bend it into a pretzel shape. His knuckles were white. "Perhaps I've had a busier life than you have, Sarah. Details like that fade."
