The gallery was a sterile white box, and Finn felt like a specimen trapped inside. The opening night had been a disaster. The critics said his work was derivative, uninspired. He’d tried to break free from his previous style, to explore new themes, but the words still haunted him. He was tired of walking on the treadmill.

Then, a mutual friend texted him a photo. Someone had gotten a tattoo of his "Crimson Sunset" piece, a vibrant abstract he'd slaved over for months. A feeling of… being hemmed in.

He stared at the photo, the bright colors bleeding onto the skin. The original. The tattoo. The permanence. He closed his eyes, seeing only the endless blank canvas of his own artistic stagnation.

He walked outside, the city lights blurring in his vision. The world rushed by, and he remained at the center, anchored and still.
