The air in the pawn shop was thick with the scent of old things and unspoken stories. Robert felt a dull ache in his chest, a constant pressure that made it difficult to breathe freely. He felt a curious detachment from his own existence, as though he were watching his life unfold from a distance.

He felt a vague sense of… being pinned down, though he couldn't put his finger on what was holding him. He knew he should be doing more, but every attempt seemed to lead to a dead end.

Then, he saw it: a familiar glint of sapphire. His grandmother’s ring. He reached for it, drawn by a force he couldn't resist.
