The heat of the subway pressed against Leo, the air thick with the smell of exhaust and desperation. He rubbed his temples, the city's relentless energy grating on his nerves. He'd been exchanging messages with Sofia for months, finding solace in her witty observations and shared cynicism. The only person who seemed to get his sense of humor.

He pulled his phone out, scrolling through their messages. He sent her a picture of the graffiti he saw. She was the only person he wanted to share it with.

“Just another day in this concrete jungle,” he wrote.

Her reply was instant. "Tell me about it. Saw the exact same thing a few blocks from you."
