"Enjoying the open bar?" her friend, Emily, asked. Sarah managed a weak smile. Everything felt heavy, as if gravity had tripled. She’d tried to be cheerful, she really had. But the sight of him across the dance floor, laughing with her cousin, ignited a strange paralysis within her. She was supposed to be moving on, making new memories. Yet, the past felt like an inescapable loop, replaying itself in her mind. Her gaze was locked on his face, wishing she could be anywhere else, anytime else.
