He slammed the door, the sound echoing in the empty hallway. John felt the familiar constriction in his chest, the feeling of being unable to move, of being buried alive. He knew the reason why his car was gone, a consequence of his failures.

He ran a hand through his hair, tugging at the strands in frustration. His vision blurred, and the world seemed to tilt on its axis. Every breath was a struggle.

He slumped against the wall, his body heavy with the burden of his existence. He was trapped, and there was no way out. The walls were closing in, and he had nowhere to go.
