He drove home in silence, the radio off. The anger had simmered down to a dull ache. He knew the numbers. He knew that the new guy, Mark, was being paid more to do the exact same job he was doing.

He slammed his fist on the steering wheel, the sound muffled by the car. He felt his face heat up, a flush of blood that was not from exercise. He parked, unable to muster the strength to go inside. The familiar routine of dinner, television, and then sleep. The thought of another day like this was unbearable.
