“Unimaginative,” the review stung Chef Omar, the man who had always prided himself on his originality. The vibrant restaurant felt muted, its atmosphere diminished. He wandered aimlessly through the kitchen, the energy of his staff a foreign language. He was losing his grip, his passion.

He stared at the ingredients, the building blocks of his creations. Once, they’d inspired him. Now, they were just… ingredients. The zest of a lemon, the fragrance of basil—nothing sparked joy. He felt an emptiness spreading inside him, a hollowness that threatened to consume him.
