I saw the closing announcement, and the world seemed to tilt. "Giovanni's," the Italian eatery I went to every Friday, was no more. My stomach churned. The comforting routine, the familiar faces, the delicious food — gone. It was my only consistent pleasure.

My shoulders slumped as I walked away, my steps dragging. I felt a profound sense of loss, a void opening up inside me. The city lights seemed harsh, unforgiving. I was unable to decide what to do next.

Each breath felt difficult, my chest tight. The idea of finding a new restaurant, establishing a new ritual, felt like scaling a mountain. I felt pinned in place.
