"Fifteen years…" Liam exhaled, the breath fogging the bathroom mirror. He ran a hand over his stubble, feeling the rough texture. The reflection stared back, a stranger. He hated the reflection.

He'd been meaning to shave for days. The thought of it, of starting his day, seemed like an insurmountable mountain. He splashed cold water on his face, trying to shake the lethargy that clung to him like a second skin.

He turned off the faucet, leaving a wet trail on the counter. The shower waited. The day waited. Everything waited. He just couldn't bring himself to move.
