Rain lashed against the dorm window, mimicking the frantic rhythm of Leo's pulse. He slammed his textbook shut, the sound echoing in the small room. Across the desk, Liam, his roommate, hummed along to some inane pop song, oblivious. Leo felt his jaw clench. He'd poured his heart out in that journal, about his dead-end internship, his non-existent love life, the suffocating pressure of his parents' expectations. Now, he couldn't shake the image of Liam, leaning back in his chair, eyes scanning his private thoughts. A chill crawled up Leo's spine. He stood abruptly, needing air, and started pacing the cramped space.
