Gemotions

The air in the cramped apartment felt thick. I crumpled the blueprints for the instant pancake maker, the very essence of my latest dream. A patent, filed months ago, for a similar device felt like a punch to the gut. All this work, all this effort, for what? I slumped onto the sofa, the cushion offering no comfort.

I felt a phantom ache in my chest, a hollowness that seemed to widen with each passing moment. I thought of the countless nights I'd spent hunched over my workbench, fuelled by coffee and desperation. The bitterness of this defeat was a physical sensation. I closed my eyes and fought the urge to simply stay.
