She stared at the painting, a vibrant landscape she’d never get to see in person. The gallery owner’s words echoed in her ears: “Such potential… wasted.” Her hands, usually eager, were now limp at her sides. The scholarship, her only chance to study abroad, had been retracted. Apparently, her academic record hadn't been quite as stellar as initially presented. The paintbrushes lay discarded on the floor of her cramped studio apartment, remnants of a dream now dissolved. The city outside roared with a constant, relentless rhythm, but inside, a profound silence had taken root.
