Gemotions

The chipped mug felt heavy in her hand. Sarah sat at the kitchen table, staring out at the grey, overcast sky. The breakfast she had made was untouched. The eggs were cold and the toast was hard. She'd been so excited to reconnect with Mark after all these years. He had walked right past her at the grocery store. Their eyes met, but he didn't see her. He didn't recognize her. The realization had struck her like a physical blow. She felt as though she was stuck in place, forever watching a party from the outside. She felt like time stood still.
