"Another latte, please," Clara mumbled, the words a dull echo in the bustling coffee shop. The barista, a young woman with vibrant purple hair, nodded and got to work. Clara’s life, like her latte, had become bland, repetitive. She’d churned out songs in her youth, but now she was a barista, her guitar gathering dust in a cramped room.

The cafe's speaker system crackled to life, filling the air with music. Clara’s breath hitched. It was *Wildflower Field*, her song, but not as she had written it. This version, a country-tinged remix, was upbeat and cheerful, sung by a performer she’d never heard of.

Clara felt a strange ache in her chest, a physical manifestation of frustration. She watched the other customers tap their feet, enjoying the song. She wanted to scream, to tell them it wasn't supposed to sound like that, but the words wouldn't come. A sense of displacement swept through her, as if she were a character in someone else's story, hopelessly sidelined.
