Gemotions

He slammed his fist on the table, the sound echoing in the empty room. "Damn it!" he yelled, the words ripped from his throat. The rejection letter, crumpled and discarded, lay on the floor like a dead leaf. He had envisioned a different outcome, years in the making.

His breath came in ragged gasps. He felt the familiar pressure in his chest. He felt like he was locked in a deep pit, with no way out. The unfinished manuscript, his masterpiece, was now just a pile of pages, destined for the bin.

He grabbed his coat, stormed out the front door. The cool night air offered no relief. He felt lost, adrift, his dreams shattered. The stars, usually a source of wonder, were just distant points of light, mocking his failure.
