The sterile white walls of the hospital room seemed to close in around David. Beside the bed, his mother lay sleeping, her face etched with the lines of a life he never truly understood. A worn box, marked "memories," sat on the bedside table. Inside, a letter written by his father, addressed to him. The letter was his father's final attempt at reconciliation, a testament of love and regret.

David hadn't spoken to his father in years, not since the business partnership and the subsequent falling out. The harsh words they'd exchanged echoed in his mind. Now, his father was gone, and the letter was all that remained. The words described hopes and dreams. He was pinned to the chair by guilt and sorrow.
