The office building loomed, a concrete monolith that had become Daniel’s prison. Every day was a repeat of the last: spreadsheets, meetings, the endless drone of corporate jargon. He was once a mentor, a guiding light. Now, the apology seemed like a cruel joke, a late-night admission of fault for a chance, missed opportunity. He deleted the email without reading it, the cursor blinking, another day, another unread email.
