The afternoon light cast a pale glow over the familiar street. Lisa pulled up the drive, the old house beckoning with a silent allure. She felt a vague sense of unease, a feeling that something wasn't quite right.

The massive, ancient sycamore, which her parents had planted to celebrate her birth, was gone. The empty space felt like a betrayal. Her breath caught in her throat.

She felt like she was sinking. Each breath was a struggle. Her limbs felt heavy, and the world seemed to tilt slightly off-kilter. She did not know how to leave.
