Rain hammered the windows of Leo's cramped apartment. He’d been staring at the same legal document, detailing a deceased father he barely remembered, for two hours. A half-sibling. A sister, apparently, named Iris. He felt a weight in his chest, a dull pressure that wouldn't release. He ran a hand through his perpetually messy hair, a nervous habit he’d developed over the years. His life felt like a collection of unopened boxes, each one containing the potential for something new, something different, but he remained paralyzed, unable to lift the lids. The letter, with its crisp, impersonal typeface, was like a physical barrier, keeping him where he was.
