The bakery, a place once filled with the aroma of joy, now felt suffocating to Leo. He was a baker, a craftsman, and recently, the joy of crafting had fled. The same orders, the same routines, every single day. A void had crept into him.

He was in the middle of preparing a new type of sourdough, a recipe he'd carefully developed when a regular customer came in, raving about a new bakery that opened up in town.

The customer produced a loaf of bread that looked incredibly similar to the one Leo was about to bake. He felt drained and his hands trembled as he cut a slice, the taste of ashes in his mouth.
