The aroma of freshly brewed coffee did nothing to lift Chloe’s spirits. She sat at her usual table in the library, surrounded by the familiar comfort of books, yet feeling anything but at ease. The announcement had thrown her life into disarray.

She’d been so close, so very close, to graduating. Now, the finish line had been moved, and she couldn't see the path forward. She felt adrift, the currents of her future pulling her in different directions. She took a sip of her coffee, the bitterness doing nothing to cut through the fog of her despair.

She felt a strange paralysis, a reluctance to even start. She wanted something, anything, to change, but had no idea where to start. The hours ticked by, the library growing emptier, and she remained glued to her chair.
