"You wouldn't mind, would you?" Mr. Peterson's voice, usually jovial, was tinged with a hesitant plea. "Just a small area. My wife, she misses having a garden." It seemed harmless enough. Daniel agreed, mostly because he couldn’t think of a reason not to. His whole life felt like a monotonous loop, each day blurring into the next. He watched Mr. Peterson, his movements quick and decisive, preparing the ground, and a strange envy twisted within him.

Days turned into weeks, and the garden flourished. Daniel, meanwhile, remained fixed in his own rut. He started each day with coffee, stared at the same emails, and felt an invisible barrier preventing him from any significant change. The vibrant colors of the blooming plants seemed to mock him, a constant reminder of everything he wasn't doing.
