The news felt like a physical blow. Sarah reread the email, her fingers tightening around her phone. The familiar apartment, the place where she felt safe, was about to be changed, and she felt completely powerless. She was tired.

She looked around her apartment, at the collection of books she hadn't touched in months, the half-finished knitting project on the couch. Every object, every item, served as a reminder of the things she hadn't done. The opportunities lost. The dreams deferred.
