"Condo? Seriously?" Liam muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair. He felt a deep, profound sense of unease. His apartment, which was all he had, was about to be snatched away. It didn’t feel like he could do anything.

He paced the length of his apartment, a space that had shrunk over the years. He walked past the pictures that hung on the wall, reminders of a life he barely lived. He felt like he was running in place.

He slumped onto the couch, staring at the ceiling. The world was moving forward. But he could not. He couldn’t. He felt a sudden, sharp pain in his chest, the weight of the world pressing down on him.
