"How dare they?" Michael mumbled, pacing his apartment. The biography, a glossy testament to someone else's perception of him, lay open on the coffee table. He felt exposed, stripped bare. His private life, dissected and displayed.

He ripped the book from the table and hurled it across the room. The pages fluttered open, exposing the lies. He felt a profound sense of outrage, a need to lash out, to make someone pay for this blatant invasion of his privacy.

He grabbed his phone, a furious text forming in his mind, but then deleted it. What was the point? He sat down heavily in his chair, his body slumping. The energy had drained from him. He felt like a puppet.
