The air in the library felt thick and heavy. She'd always loved this place, the hushed whispers and the scent of old paper and ink. But now, the silence felt oppressive, the books on the shelves mocking her with their unfulfilled potential.

She tried to focus on her studies, but the words swam before her eyes, blurring into an unintelligible mess. Her thoughts kept returning to the email, to the cold, impersonal words that had shattered her plans.

She closed her laptop, her shoulders slumping. The weight of her disappointment made her feel as if she was sinking slowly into the floor.
