Gemotions

The drive home was a blur. He kept the radio off, preferring the uncomfortable quiet. The familiar roads, usually a source of comfort, now felt like a path to nowhere. The scenery seemed to press in on him, the trees and houses mocking his ambitions.

His hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles were white. He was frustrated. He felt the need to yell and scream, but he found himself unable to even speak. His words were stuck, trapped in his throat.

Reaching his family home, he saw his mother in the front yard, smiling. He pulled the car into the driveway, hoping to avoid her. He felt ashamed.
