Gemotions

The elevator ride felt like an eternity. Each floor felt like an insult. He had been so proud of his work, so committed. Now he was expected to pass on his knowledge to a kid fresh out of college, who clearly knew nothing.

He had promised to show up early, so the new girl could acclimate. He met her at his desk, where she was already sitting, all smiling and eager. The expression on her face made him want to say something rude.

He gestured to the computer. “Just log in, and then you’ll see the schedule. It's really self-explanatory.” His voice was devoid of life, a monotone drone. He sat down and stared blankly at his hands.
