Rain lashed against the window, mirroring the tempest within her. She hunched over the keyboard, but the screen was blurry, a reflection of the fog clouding her mind. The published piece, the one she'd slaved over, was now credited to another, a name she barely knew.

Her fingers idly tapped the space bar, the movement devoid of any real purpose. She was frozen in place. Her breath hitched. The entire situation felt like a cruel joke, the punchline a bitter taste in her mouth.
