"Overpriced, pretentious, and ultimately, disappointing." Those damning words swirled around inside Chef Isabella's head. She stood in the walk-in, surrounded by fresh produce, but felt no inspiration. Usually, the vibrant colors and aromas energized her. Not today.

She grabbed a perfectly ripe tomato and squeezed it hard. The juice ran down her fingers, sticky and red. She felt a profound sense of futility. She wanted to scream, to weep, to run away. She just stood there, the cool air doing little to soothe the tightness in her chest.

She finally turned, her movements slow and deliberate, and began to shred lettuce, her movements harsh and angry.
