Gemotions

The phone felt heavy in his hand. He stared at the screen, the notification of the closing of "Maria's Kitchen" a bitter pill to swallow. His favorite place, the spot he visited when he was down. The place that always made him feel better.

He threw the phone onto the couch, the action a sudden, frustrated outburst. He turned his back on the world and flopped on the bed. His mind was in turmoil. His limbs were heavy. He didn’t want to go anywhere, do anything. He just wanted to be left alone, to dwell in the hollow ache that had consumed him.

He closed his eyes, the image of Maria's warm smile and comforting food fading into a blur.
