Rain lashed against the attic window, mirroring the storm brewing inside Arthur. He’d retreated to this forgotten space, away from the chirping demands of his family, the constant expectations that weighed him down. He’d picked up a dusty old volume of poetry, more out of spite for the world than any genuine interest.

The book smelled of dust and something else, a faint, sweet perfume that hinted at a life lived long ago. As he idly flipped through the brittle pages, a folded piece of paper fluttered out. It was a letter, penned in elegant script. He unfolded it slowly, each crease a tiny echo of his own carefully guarded frustration.

"To my dearest Elias," it began. Arthur found himself, against his better judgment, drawn in.
