The concert hall was a symphony of rustling programs and hushed conversations. He clutched his ticket, the paper feeling flimsy and inadequate. The featured piece, the "Celestial Sonata," was his composition. He had watched her take his notes, now the name of another composer.

He swallowed hard. His throat was dry. Each note that was played seemed to mock him.

He felt a deep sense of wrongness. The beautiful music was now tainted. He sat in his seat, a solitary figure in a crowded room.
