Gemotions

The light from the desk lamp cast long shadows across the room. She tossed and turned in her bed, unable to sleep. She felt a burning sensation in her chest.

Yesterday, she had written about her family issues. Then, later, her roommate, Hannah, had made a series of insensitive comments. Now she couldn't shake the suspicion. The journal had vanished.

She sat up, pulling her knees to her chest. The quiet in the room was heavy, oppressive. Every creak of the building sounded like a footstep, every shadow seemed to twist into the shape of someone staring.
