Gemotions

The morning light was harsh, reflecting off the dew-kissed grass. He'd woken up with a headache. He saw the dog emerge from the bushes and bound across his lawn, scattering the fallen leaves. His shoulders slumped.

He didn’t have the energy to chase it away. He didn’t have the energy to care. He simply stood there, hands in his pockets, and watched. He hated the way his stomach clenched. He just wanted to be left alone.

He stayed there until the dog, having explored his territory, turned and ran back through the hole in the fence.
