Gemotions

The gym felt stifling. Sweat beaded on Liam's forehead as he went through the motions of his workout, the rhythmic clang of weights a dull counterpoint to the turmoil in his head. He was supposed to be feeling energized, but his limbs felt heavy, and his motivation was nonexistent.

He'd just typed a frustrated text to his trainer, complaining about the overly aggressive training. He had sent it to his girlfriend. He cursed under his breath.

He pictured her response, the gentle scolding, the attempts to boost his spirits. He didn't want any of it. He wanted to be left alone. He stopped his set, dropping the weight with a thud.
