Gemotions

The weight of the past pressed down on him, a physical burden. He sighed, the sound lost in the echoing emptiness of the apartment. He was supposed to be moving out, but he was stuck, paralyzed, staring at a box of his father's things.

He sifted through the contents, his fingers brushing against worn leather and faded photographs. Then, he found it: a single sheet of paper, typed on old letterhead. His breath caught in his throat.

His father's resignation letter. It spoke of a shift in priorities, a need for a new path. The language was impersonal, carefully crafted to avoid any hint of emotion. He read the words and then tossed the letter onto the floor. The coldness of the room seemed to intensify. He slumped back against the sofa, his gaze fixed on the ceiling. He felt as if a vital piece of the puzzle was missing, and the silence of the room mocked his confusion.
