The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen, but for Janice, it did nothing to soothe the tightness in her shoulders. Her husband, Tom, was known for his generosity, for his devotion. So why the hidden account? She had discovered it, tucked inside a cookbook, a place where it seemed safe.

She watched the steam rise from the bread cooling on the counter, a physical manifestation of her growing anger.
