Gemotions

The phone felt heavy in Sarah’s hand, the receiver cold against her ear. Mr. Henderson's voice, thin and reedy, had been a constant buzzkill of her day. He'd called *again* about the volume of her television. The nerve of the man! She worked hard, and she was entitled to relax.

She paced her living room, her jaw clenched. Outside, the world felt too bright, too loud. She pictured Mr. Henderson peering from behind his curtains, his face a mask of disapproval. She wished she could just make him disappear.

She slammed the phone back onto the receiver, the loud click echoing in the sudden silence. She wouldn't call him back. She wouldn't apologize. She'd just turn up the volume a little.
