Gemotions

She slumped into a chair, the "C" on the exam paper a dark stain on her efforts. She could feel the sting of unshed tears pricking at her eyes. She wanted to cry, but she couldn't. She was too numb, too overwhelmed.

She stared out the window at the rain, each drop a tiny mirror reflecting her own misery. The bustling city outside her window seemed a million miles away.

She took a deep breath, trying to regain control. The only emotion was a bitter sense of injustice, and a weary hopelessness that settled deep within her bones.
