The hospital room felt like a prison cell to Zara. She stared at the ceiling, the harsh fluorescent lights intensifying the throbbing headache that had plagued her for days. The beeping of the machines and the hushed whispers of the nurses grated on her nerves. She wanted to scream, to shatter the monotonous routine.

A nurse entered the room, holding a chart. Zara ignored her, focusing on the cracks in the ceiling.

"Ms. Zara, you have a visitor," the nurse announced, her voice soft.

Zara just turned her head and glared at the nurse.

A man, his face pale and drawn, stepped into the room. He looked as weary as she felt.

"They said you have GSD VII," he began, his voice barely above a whisper.

Zara’s breath hitched. She finally looked at him, and then she spoke: “Me too.”
