Gemotions

The sun beat down on the small cafe, but I barely registered the heat. My coffee, long since gone cold, sat untouched. I stirred the remaining liquid, watching the dark ripples. I’d seen the chapter dedicated to me, and the way he perceived me.

I gripped the cup, knuckles white. The cafe was full of chattering people, but I was in a world of my own, isolated. The vibrant colours of the surroundings seemed to mock the darkness inside me.

I wanted to scream, to lash out, to break something. Instead, I just sat there, silently stewing.

The taste of betrayal was a bitter flavour I couldn't wash away.
