Gemotions

The sunlight, normally a welcome presence, felt intrusive, glaring through the thin curtains of her apartment. She’d spent the morning staring at the ceiling, unmoving, feeling a heavy sense of dread.

She ignored the buzzing of her phone, the insistent notifications building up a sense of pressure. Each one, a reminder of the life she could not bring herself to face.

She dragged herself out of bed. She opened the fridge, then slammed it shut. Nothing in the world seemed appealing. Nothing, except the thought of being left alone. She went back to bed.
