He’d just poured his morning coffee when the first blast of noise hit. His mug wobbled in his hand, and a dark brown wave nearly spilled over the rim. He rushed to the window, eyes wide. Mr. Henderson’s usually pristine lawn was now a construction zone.

His heart began to thump a little faster. He’d known Henderson was considering some upgrades, but not this. A backhoe was already demolishing the old shed. The sheer audacity of the undertaking made him feel…odd. He rubbed his chest. This was going to be disruptive. He imagined the noise for the next few months.
