The email arrived mid-afternoon, just as Sarah was finally getting through her inbox. She’d been dreading the weekly report, but the subject line caused her to forget all about it. "Fence Installation Proposal - Your Property." She clicked it open, her fingers trembling slightly.

The document detailed the type of wood, the height, the timeline. Photos of similar fences in the neighborhood were included. Sarah felt the blood drain from her face. She'd always found the shared yard a convenient, if infrequent, shortcut. She'd never even considered a barrier. She felt a vague sense of unease settle over her.
