Gemotions

The familiar squeak of shoes on the polished floor seemed distant. "You're going to be a libero, Emily," the coach announced. Emily, a powerful hitter, felt her muscles tighten. She stood there, motionless, the sound of her own breathing loud in her ears. A sense of unease churned in her gut. She’d trained to dominate at the net, her spikes a weapon. Suddenly, a new role, a new responsibility, was demanded of her. She looked at her teammates, her gaze darting from face to face, searching for confirmation that she had, in fact, heard correctly.
